About the Book
Nikki Garcia, an American woman, arrives in Medellin, Colombia to investigate allegations of fraud against the General Manager of Amazonia Steel, a local affiliate of the multi-national corporation where she works.
In her ensuing investigative work, she connects two accidental deaths at the Company to a much darker plot involving the man under investigation.
To help with the investigation, she hires a former CIA operative to assist her. Nikki also meets a medical doctor she soon finds herself falling in love with until she is kidnapped and wonders if he is also part of the sinister plot threatening her life.

About the Author
Kathryn Lane, originally from Mexico, took the long road to becoming an author. She started work life as an artist in oil painting, but soon discovered that lead to a starving artist lifestyle.

To earn a living, she became a certified public accountant and enjoyed a two-decade career in international finance with Johnson & Johnson. She started as an auditor, ferreting out fraud at affiliates around the world. Later she became CFO of Johnson & Johnson Mexico for five years, moved to Argentina, where she served as CFO of the local affiliate and was also given sub regional responsibilities. After five years in the Southern Cone, she was named to head the Latin America and Caribbean finance function.
Kathryn took an early retirement from corporate life to live out her dream of writing fiction. As an author of mystery and suspense novels, she draws deeply from her experiences growing up in a small town in Mexico as well as her work and travel in over ninety countries around the globe. In her youth, she lived in a story-centric culture where reality blended with the surreal in perfect harmony – a dichotomy that developed her ability to form mental images of characters and stories that spring to life.
Kathryn loves the Arts and is a board member of the Montgomery County Literary Arts Council. Kathryn and her husband, Bob Hurt, split their time between Texas and the mountains of northern New Mexico where she finds it inspiring to write.
