The Artside columnist for The Augusta Chronicle, Brackett has written for the South's oldest newspaper for nearly 29 years. She wrote The Key of Elyon, her debut novel in 2012, and it received the Yerby Award for Fiction at the 2014 Augusta Literary Festival.
Her first illustrated children's book, Little Pearl's Circus World, based on the true story of her great-grandmother who started performing in her father's circus at the age of 4, won the 2015 Georgia Author of the Year Award through the Georgia Writers Association.
