Over the next 33 years, Dr. Fowler rose through the academic ranks to Professor of Medicine, being named as Chairman of the Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Division in 1998. He continued in the Chairman’s position until July of 2015 when he stepped down to become Director of the VCU Johnson Center for Critical Care and Pulmonary Research.
Dr. Fowler has always had a passion for reading and writing. His favorite authors are Daniel Silva, Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, and Vince Flynn. After years of publishing more than 200 scientific papers he decided to turn his attention to writing fiction. In 2013 he published his first novel, Organs of Greed, a medical suspense thriller.
The novel explores the world of black market medicine and how the under privileged and down trodden of society become targets for their organs by a slick for-profit hospital system wanting to supply organs of all type to the wealthy. Dr. Fowler is at work on novel number two. Stay tuned.
