Opus Dei - the work of God – in this case, the work of the hidden god. From an attack on the streets of Beirut during the civil war till the incredible climax in 2016, this strange tale of conspiracy and intrigue is sure to grip the reader.

Opus Dei has an intensely human aspect to the story. It is the love relationship between Pierre Zein and Danielle. And it is their struggle, with a young family, to survive in a country divided by conflict.

The Book has been self-published via the Author's Imprint Forest of Lebanon Publications and is available as eBook – 625 pages (202,000 words) - released in November 2011.

About the Book

“A leader is about to arise. A man who will seize Europe and overpower her as a man takes a woman. He will dominate her and she will serve him. This man’s name is war…”

This prophecy by the Twelfth Imam of the Shiites leads Pierre Zein, a journalist, to investigate the dark forces behind the scenes intent on creating a New World Order.

In Israel an attack is launched against the Iranian nuclear installations, while on the same night a right-wing group razes the Dome of the Rock plunging the region into war. By the intervention of one man, a new Order comes into being - one that is ultimately intended to destroy the Holy Land.

Opus Dei reveals the secrets concealed beneath the pyramids of Egypt, and the ultimate secret of the Knights Templar. These are the hidden things, the desire of ages, over which wars have been fought and are destined to be fought again. A game is played between two men and two powers – Islam’s Al Mahdi, and the leader of the Order. Only one man can win and the winner takes all. The work of the hidden god is almost complete.

The intended New World Order is well-documented. Opus Dei reveals its beginning and more importantly, its end. It discovers the confluence of politics, mythology and Biblical prophecy.

As fresh as tomorrow’s newspaper, this novel was written over many years. It is deeply researched and carefully crafted.

About the Author

Author Lyn J Pickering
During the early ‘70’s Lyn J Pickering and her brother hitch-hiked to Lebanon. After staying for a while in Beirut they rented a house in the village of Chimlane in the Shouf Mountains where Lyn fell in love with the country and with a society so radically different from her own. In the city, street vendors shouted their wares and placed fresh fruit, vegetables and heat-puffed loaves into baskets lowered by housewives from the upper floors of the apartments. The fish-monger arrived in the village by donkey trailed by the local cats. All major celebrations were accompanied by enthusiastic gunfire and occasionally Israeli fighter planes warned that peace was tenuous by breaking the sound barrier over the city. It was an exhilarating experience.

Lyn’s return journey to South Africa was made by Land Rover from London – an exciting trip in those days with many challenges. She was back at home when civil war broke out in Lebanon and was devastated by the scenes that came through the news media. Opus Dei, in its early form, was a response to the war and an attempt to capture on paper the Lebanon she had known.

English by birth, Lyn has lived in Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and South Africa. She is married, has six wonderful children. She also now has five very special daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. Lyn lives a delightfully quiet life with her husband, Bill, in the Karkloof hills of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands.
