Reviews (Excerpts)
- "With Rosedale, Raphael has in turn created a familiar character and also one completely original. Told in haunting detail and with a literate style that evokes the chill of Poe, the reader is easily drawn into turn of the century New York and to the melancholy life of a vampyre with powers that would make even Dracula jealous. The story is equal parts erotic and disturbing, told with incredible detail and character depth, and will surely grip you like the best of dreams and the very worst of nightmares." - Rob Rosen
- " I loved the way this book transported you back to the early 1900s in New York City, not just through the splendid details, but through the actual way the story is told. You feel as if you're picking up a book from that period, except I don't think anyone back then would have been so forthright about the steamy high-class bordello scenes, which are poetically rendered along with everything else in the book, including the vampirism. This would make a wonderful movie. It's got fascinating characters, a unique setting, and the protagonist's transformation is chilling and believable." - Jerry Thomas
- "The best vampire tales lull you, intrigue you, scare you, and make you believe they actually could be true, that another, dark, threatening reality could exist parallel to yours. This book does all of those and more. With gorgeous prose, it plunges you into another era and another way of life. The main character is deeply sympathetic in his grief and solitude, and so his transformation is both shocking and mesmerizing. The period detail is lush, and the sex scenes sizzle. I would love to see a film made from this book, though you'd lose the voice in which it's told, a voice that is haunting and beautiful." - Dr. Dr. (Amazon)
- "I've long admired Lev Raphael's work. He's a consummate storyteller, his words as much music and art as they are the fabric of a tale. With "Rosedale the Vampyre," Raphael yet again breaks new ground as he crafts a vampire story unlike any other. [...] Once again, Raphael delivers!" - Heidi (Amazon)
